Now for the non Gushy moments of our 1st Easter together

Paul and I started our morning with yes, super yummy donuts! We then got ready and headed to mass at the Cathedral where the Bishop did mass. We then headed home for Easter Baskets!!! I was so excited to give Paul his Easter Basket, what every man needs in his basket: a new paintbrush(that his lovely wife ruined OOPS!), sponge paintbrushes, sanding blocks, flip flops to ruin for being in the garage and yard work, new socks, masks for all our painting, and lots and lots of yummmmmy candy (all his favorites!)

Paul opted for a beautiful blue flower pot instead of a basket, a book by fav author that I didn't have yet, and Taylor Swift Cd! So fun!

We spent the rest of our day working in our garage on some projects for our etsy website and then had a barbecue with our next door neighbors and their three kids. And yes here of pics of a Mexican tradition that happened while we were in the garage. You won't see Paul because he ran inside and locked the door! haha got to love him!

Our Easter Baskets

Paul loving his new paintbrush!

My neighbors and I, after attacking us with confetti eggs! Notice all the confetti on the driveway!

Happy Easter!

Whew, what a wonderful and blessed Holy Week. This year I was able to attend all the services (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday). I cannot sum up all my emotions about this week. Since moving to Corpus Christi, besides my husband Paul, the church has been my strength. It is funny how when life changes how much your relationship with the Lord changes. I am not one to be so open about my relationship with God, but I am slowly learning to be able to put it into words (and also can't help but talk about it with everyone around me.)

For the first time in my life, I attended Holy Thursday mass. I know, I know, I can't believe it, but after attending it for the first time, I pray that I will be able to make it there in the coming years. What an important mass!! It is the Last Supper for Jesus, him knowing the sacrifices that he was about to make for everyone in the world. Our priest said, "yes this is the last supper, but really the first supper." Jesus presents to his disciples the Eucharist, saying "Do this is memory of me." This is the first time that Jesus presents Holy Communion to his disciples. How powerful that is. Every Sunday, I am blessed with receiving communion, but come on have I realized the importance! Not until attending Holy Thursday this week. Jesus has given us the opportunity to receive this gift every single day and Sunday to come to the table and become one with him in the Holy Eucharist. Man, I have been missing this all my life.

And Good Friday, how important is this mass to attend. We relive the Passion of Jesus. And then we are able to show reverence to the Crucifix. The priest was saying during his homily, the importance of having a crucifix in your home. (I will definitely be looking for one for Paul and I)!

Then Easter Sunday, the greatest mass of the year. But this Bishop was saying, "Yes this is the greatest mass of the year, but we have the opportunity EVERY single Sunday to attend most Holy Mass." Whew. . . and in his homily he talked about selfishness. How when becoming married you practically die to yourself, so that you can fully give yourself to your spouse and when this happens your love for one another will continue to grow. Paul and I smiled and looked at each other.

Anyways, I had such a wonderful week and Easter Sunday and could not help but write about it on here. What a changing time for me. I even started crying when the babies were getting baptized. How important the responsibility for Parents and Godparents to shape the babies life in living a life in communion with Jesus. I also think the tears were because in two weeks, John Paul (my new nephew) will be getting baptized and I have been chosen to be his Godmother.

Man, I could go on and on. So although I was upset that this would be the first holiday without my parents or family around, I made it through it, and Paul and I had the most special Easter Sunday with one another. Paul is a wonderful husband always being supportive, God knew what he was doing when he brought us together :)

John Paul McRorie 8lbs 19 inches long

Proud Auntie!! (excuse the tiredness)

Little Hannah with her new brother

Oh and Mary Catherine, she won't let go of him :)

He is here!! My first nephew out of five nieces! It was a beautiful birth. I got to time my sisters contractions starting at 2:00pm to around 7pm when she left for the birthing center. I helped my mom put the girls to sleep and drove up to the birthing center to help my sister through her labor and witness the beautiful birth. Here are some pictures of my beautiful nephew. He is so sweet and cuddly. Congrats Sarah and Andy!!

Shout out to Dzia Dzia

On my way to Oklahoma, I made a pit stop in Austin praying my sister would have her baby! My mom and I took the girls to a fun little place called Jungle Java a playground for kids while their moms drink coffee. It was a blast! I videotaped Mary Catherine going down the slide. If you look closely she makes a "Go Pokes" sign and she yells "Go Sooners!" She is a hoot!

Taylor Swift Surprise!!

Look how close we were to her!

I was subbing on Friday afternoon and the students asked me if I was going to the Taylor Swift Concert. I had no idea that she would even come to Corpus Christi. After work, I ran home got on the computer and started searching for some cheap tickets for Paul and I. I found some good seats, called the box office, but they were already sold. Paul was out mowing the lawn, so I decided to take a nap. What seemed like hours later, Paul was trying to wake me up. I was very tired because I told him I didn't want to go the grocery store.

Anyways, my husband had managed to find some tickets for us while I was sleeping. He woke me up and off we went to see Taylor Swift. We had a blast! She was amazing. Here are some fun pictures!

Worth the Road trip!!

This weekend Paul and I left for Austin on Friday. We stayed the night, woke up, and headed to Oklahoma City for my best friend's couple shower. We had a BLAST at the couple shower, even though we were only in Oklahoma for 8 hours or so! We then left on Sunday, made a pit stop in Austin, and drove back to Corpus. We are a little tired, but could not be happier to support one of my best friend's and her fiance. Mandy, we love you!!!

There are four more scheduled "short trips" to Oklahoma every two weeks through this month and next !! We will be very busy. Our dogs were troopers, and we even decided to bring home my parent's dog, Dotty. (since I will be in Oklahoma for two weeks)

Time Flies!!

Quite the Traveler

Since Paul and I have been married, I have been traveling a lot. We were fortunate enough to be able to spend a week with our parents during Thanksgiving and Christmas. During this time, we were also able to spend time with our friends. I have also traveled to Austin for Hannah's first birthday. We are very lucky to be about three and half hours away from my sister. It is also a nice pit stop when traveling back to Oklahoma. (Free lodging, and lots of love from my nieces). In the New Year, I drove home for one of my friend's wedding. I have many more trips planned to Oklahoma because my best friend is getting married in April, and my other best friend is getting married in June.

Meanwhile, I have started the process to get my alternative certification to teach. My plan is to start teaching in the fall, God willing. I continue to sub three or four days a week, and the other days I have been taking care of Paul and I's new minature schnauzer, Penny. Gunner could not be happier to have a playmate!

Since living here in October we have been blessed with my visitors. Paul's mother and brother came in December during his birthday. We had a blast showing them around the town, and replacing our doorknobs :) My three best friends came for the weekend in January. My sister and her girls have been twice. My dad recently took the time to drive a U Haul, carrying our new furniture, to Corpus. And finally, my wonderful loving mom came for a week and a half. During her time here, we relaxed, cleaned, did arts and crafts, and had a garage sale. I am so blessed to have parents that are always putting their children first. I cannot say thank you enough for all the love and support from my friends, my sister, and my parents. I love you guys!

Here are pictures from Christmas, Hannah's birthday, and some pictures of my nieces! Enjoy!

Our First Night Out!

Our View from Our Room!

Paul and I chose to go to Playa Mujeres in Mexico for our honeymoon. We stayed at the The Excellence Resort. This place was recommended to Paul and I by my brother, Timmy, and sister-in-law,Rachel, who have been to the resort twice. We had the best time. It was so nice to relax after the big rush of the wedding. We loved that it was all inclusive!! We definitely took advantage of that. We met a ton of fun couples that had gotten married on the same day that we did. We also saw a friend from our high school (small world huh?). One of the most entertaining parts of the honeymoon was a family that we met. We had a blast playing water volleyball, beach volleyball, and all the other activities with them! Paul and I are already making plans to go back to Mexico to celebrate our first anniversary in October! Here are a few of the pictures from our honeymoon. Paul spoiled me with a two story ocean view room. It was absolutely gorgeous!! We even had a private pool on our rooftop!
